about
Xander Rodzinski (ZAN-der ruh-JIN-ski) has emerged as a dynamic and innovative composer for film and television. Steeped in classical musical his whole childhood, his musical curiosities quickly grew exploring every type of music he could get his hands on. This fusion results in unique soundscapes tailored to each project, reflecting his commitment to experimentation and collaboration.
In 2022, Xander showcased his versatility by scoring episodes 4 through 8 of the Disney+ series Willow, a sequel to the iconic 1988 film, taking over from James Newton Howard who had scored the first three episodes. Writing a mammoth four hours of music for massive orchestra and choir, he delighted in getting to honor the classic themes while introducing a contemporary edge to the score.
The same year, he composed the score for legendary director Walter Hill's Western Dead for a Dollar, starring Christoph Waltz and Willem Dafoe. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and Xander's thematic score earned a nomination for Best Original Score – Independent Film at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
His most recent endeavors include scoring two films that premiered at the Austin Film Festival: the delightful sci-fi adventure Bolt from the Blue, directed by Jack Martin, and nuanced and affecting horror-drama Inhabitants, directed by Matt McClung. Both are now streaming on all platforms.
Other collaborations include writing additional music for several of James Newton Howard’s scores such as Terrence Malick’s A Hidden Life, and the Emmy nominated score to Lawrence Kasdan directed docu-series Light & Magic. He produced several of James Newton Howard’s scores such as the Oscar nominated score to News of the World, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Raya and the Last Dragon, as well as Jungle Cruise. You can also hear his music in the film DC League of Super Pets where he wrote additional music for Steve Jablonsky. He co-composed the score to the National Geographic documentary The Last Ice with Sven Faulconer and Tyler Durham, which earned the three of them a Critics’ Choice Award Nomination for best Documentary Score.
In addition to his film and television work, he has continued to work on commercials for many top brands such as Nike, Google, Facebook, IBM, Lenovo, Polaroid, Bloomberg, GE, Motorola, Skillshare, Benefit Cosmetics, and Away.
